Amazing Opportunities and a Warm Welcome Await you in NHS Grampian
NHS Grampian, which is one of the 10 principal Health Boards in Scotland, provides healthcare services to the North and North East of the country. We employ around 17,000 staff who deliver our services to 570,000 people spread across 3,360 square miles of city, town, village and rural communities across Grampian. Our staff also work closely with teams in other NHS Boards in the north to deliver specialist tertiary care to the population in the North of Scotland.
NHS Grampian provides healthcare from more than twenty hospitals across the area; ranging from small community facilities to the Foresterhill Health Campus, one of the biggest healthcare sites in Europe. It is home to Aberdeen Royal Infirmary, a large teaching hospital; Royal Aberdeen Children’s Hospital, and Aberdeen Maternity Hospital, which oversees 4,000-5,000 births every year. The site is also home to the University of Aberdeen medical school.
NHS Grampian is committed to providing excellent facilities for the delivery of 21st Century healthcare. £300M is being invested in new buildings, including a brand new maternity hospital, all due to open in the coming years. The ‘Welcome Wards’ programme, developed in Grampian, has been described as the most welcoming and patient centred visiting scheme anywhere in the world.
NHS Grampian has a very close working relationship with both the University of Aberdeen (with its internationally renowned Medical School and Dental School) and Robert Gordon University (who provide a wide range of undergraduate and postgraduate education). As the key providers of training locally, their students are given the opportunity to learn and develop alongside experienced professionals. There are also development and research opportunities for staff, allowing them to gain further qualifications. The training we offer has been rated as some of the very best available in the UK.
These close links have also made us a centre of pioneering medical research in a number of fields.
